About WWE 2K15
WWE 2K15 marked the series’ jump from THQ’s old wrestling formula to 2K’s version of the license, and it’s a rougher, more grounded take on in-ring action than fans were used to. The bump in realism came at a cost, but the ambition behind it is obvious from the first match.
The biggest shift is the new animation and physics work. Grapples, reversals, and finishers all move with more weight than earlier entries, and collisions between wrestlers feel less like scripted sequences and more like two bodies actually colliding. It’s slower and more deliberate than the arcade-style wrestling games that came before it.
MyCareer mode got rebuilt from the ground up here. You start in NXT, working your way up through storylines and rivalries before ever touching the main roster. It’s a longer grind than previous career modes, but it gives your custom wrestler an actual arc instead of just a stat sheet.
The roster leans on the mid-2010s era of WWE talent, with Cena, Bryan, Orton, and the Authority storyline all represented alongside a set of legends pulled in for good measure. Create-a-Wrestler returns with deep customization, letting you build a character from scratch and drop him straight into any mode.
2K Showcase mode retells real WWE storylines through a mix of gameplay and archival footage, and the John Cena versus CM Punk arc gets particular focus here. Reliving specific real matches with objectives tied to what actually happened adds a layer that generic exhibition matches don’t have.
Match variety covers the usual bases: singles, tag team, Hell in a Cell, ladder matches, and Royal Rumble, though the roster of match types is noticeably smaller than what later 2K entries would add back in. It’s a trade-off for the more grounded core gameplay this entry was chasing.
Online play supports both ranked and unranked matches, along with community creations shared through the game’s creation suite. Custom arenas, wrestlers, and shows built by other players extend the content well past what ships in the box.
WWE 2K15 isn’t the most feature-complete entry in the series, but it’s the one that set the tone for everything after it. If you want to see where the modern 2K wrestling formula actually started, this is the game.
