Multiplayer runs the classic Conquest and Rush modes at scale, supporting up to 64 players on PC across large combined-arms maps. Jets, tanks, helicopters, and infantry all share the same battlespace, and coordinating a squad push while air support clears the skies overhead is where the mode shines.

Jet combat got real depth this time, with dogfighting mechanics detailed enough to support dedicated pilots who spend entire matches exclusively in the air. Ground troops calling in air support and pilots actually delivering on it creates some of the series’ best emergent moments.

Class-based squad play returns with Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon roles, each contributing differently to a coordinated push. Squad orders and spotting mechanics reward players who communicate rather than run solo across an open map.

Sound design deserves specific mention. Explosions, gunfire, and the distinct roar of jet engines overhead all contribute to a genuinely immersive battlefield atmosphere that set a new bar for the series at the time.
